A question for people here who are enrolled at the American Military University (AMU): Does AMU have any school based discussion boards? They have newsgroups, but only for an individual class. I enrolled for my first class at AMU in the Spring of this year and enjoyed it very much. The only problem was that with a small class of 11 students, discussion did not get started in our newsgroups. The only posts there were the ones required by our professor. What I miss from an online university is the out of class discussions that take place. Not only the fun ones, but the practical ones as well (take professor smith he is great! or stay away from professor jones, she is horrible!). I have seen other online universities that do have discussion boards and some students of a university that have set up their own discussion boards, but I have yet to be able to locate one for AMU. Perhaps AMU will start one up soon, they are about to have a software upgrade in a few weeks, but I kind of doubt it. Anybody here interested in setting up a board for AMU students? I would join. Heck, I would even help. Thank you
Joe, AMU did have general-type message boards at one time. When I enrolled in 2000, the AMU Website did have a "student lounge" consisting of message boards for general discussion, Civil War Studies, Intelligence, Defense Management, Air Warfare, Land Warfare, etc. I don't remember when they went away, but it was well before I graduated. You might be able to generate enough interest for AMU to institute a new "student lounge".
Hi Charles, According to your sig, you apparently graduated AMU and are now enrolled in another BA program. I've only heard good things about AMU. Did you find something lacking in the utility of your AMU Bachelor's degree or did you just become interested in a different subject? Thanks, Bill
Charles, I was just interested in what you got your BA in from AMU. Thank you for your information about the student lounge.
Bill, I am absolutely pleased with AMU. Just as you suggested I am studying a completely different subjects at UNISA, Biblical Archaeology/Classical Culture. I probably should have waited until I finished my MBA (planned for December 2004) before starting at UNISA, but I'm impulsive that way. My whole UNISA story is here: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7223&highlight=Off+to+pretoria Jon, My BA is in Military Management.
