After reading some threads on the other site, it sound like there maybe some movement with DETC to allow some schools to offer Ph.D degrees.
Sounds like a good idea to me, as long as standards are maintained some competition in offering Ph.D degrees should bring costs down or at least slow the increases that we have seen.

For additional information you can go to the DETC home page and find the link to final guidelines for accreditation of doctoral programs. These guidelines were approved at the June 4th meeting.

Note: these are proposed and out for comment. Commissioners will vote on them in January.

    I hope so

Competition is what drives our society, and we need more of it. The RA accreditors are great, but they shouldn't be the end all. DETC PhD's would be terrific alternative for everybody. I hope it goes through.

I don't think they do, maybe in the future. Marine Corps Insitute is accredited by DETC. Well, read my signature. lol
