    Greetings,

I have a few questions about AIU and the distance learning program itself in general.

First of all, I been reading about AIU and needless to say I am not exactly thrilled at the feedbacks (although I did see some positive ones). I recently applied to AIU and waiting for their approval to start the BBA. Does anyone know how long its supposed to take to finish? I realize its different for everyone, but I was told it would take 13 months, is that realistic? I do have some previous college credits and different certifications (MCSA, A+, Network+), but I'd hate to sign up and find out that its really 13x2 and $$x4 as well.

As far as distance learning programs go, what can I do to prepare myself better if and when I decide to pursue and finish my degree? I am pretty PC literate but as far as highschool maths, or english courses...lets just say its been a while, should I go get a refresher?

Finally, have you guys been happy so far with your degree programs? Was it worth it?

Any help you guys give is appreciated. Thank you in advance. :)

    Hi Geforce11,

When AIU says 13 months, they are giving a pretty honest and realistic answer. Their program is accelerated, you take each class for 5 weeks and all classes are scheduled in order, in a lock step sequence. Once your application for admissions is approved and you have access to the AIU virtual campus you will have an E-Degree Plan under the services tab of the campus. The E-degree plan will tell you the exact dates that each of your classes should start and stop, right up until the last class.

The only thing that can change that date is if you fail a class and need to repeat one or if you have not completed your associate degree and have a couple additional credits to earn prior to graduation.

On the whole, AIU is really good about sticking to your schedule though. I did know a couple students who needed to take additional general education courses because they had not finished the prerequisite requirements before starting the bachelors program, but this only tacked on an extra 5-10 weeks not another year ;).

As far as being happy with my degree, I have been very happy with it. It was extremely well received by my employer and it was also well received by a local community technical college that just recently hired me to teach an intro. to computers course.

My only problems with AIU were entirely administrative in nature.
