Anyone have any info on distance-ed martial arts instruction? Not just looking for training, but actual rank, etc.

    thanks

None that would be worth much.

If you've got lots of traning time with a recognized organization and just can't get your rank there because of politics, you might try looking for other recognized organizations in the style to affiliate with (best if the other organizations are also breakoffs of the parent org). Other than that, you can alway print up your own certificates [IMG]

Good Grief, a Shotokan wuss - and volunteering the fact. No sense of shame, I see.

Here at George W. Bushido University, we mail you a plank. You smash it in half with your hand and mail back the pieces, and we send you your belt.

    Dear Mr. Boffo,

    Greetings!

I don't know if there is a need to take your enquire on the light side as if it were not something important for you. For me, any kind of education is valuable. I remember when a person asked about barber courses via distance learning on alt.education.distance, and nobody took this enquire seriously. I was the only one who was actually able to help the guy and direct him to some courses via distance learning. This might be one of those cases again.

In regard to your question, yes, I know some martial arts courses via distance learning. These courses don't automatically confer you a rank, but after passing them, you can apply for belts certification. I can't tell you if these courses are good or not, but you might want to take a look at them and judge for yourself. Obviously, it is not worth that I post this information here, so please E-mail privately to pass you all the information.

    Respectfully yours,

But John, could we trust this method without a proctor? A proctor would actually watch the board being smashed, sign and return a notarized confirmation, which would give legitimacy to the process.

This would, hopefully, keep Gephart and Dashal from spreading untruths about GWB University. [IMG]
