    TEKMAN Semper Fi!

    Hello Everyone,

Does anybody here is taking or taken B.S in Business Administration at TESC? I looked at the Mr. Miller's site (BAin4Weeks.com), it more likely applies to Excelsior. I am trying to take all the examination on this degree through TESC. If you are or were, please give me more details what exams you took. I have around 110 college credits from various sources, and I am looking for a quit degree along with B.S CompSci at Troy Univ.

Thank you very much for any imput/advice.

    BSBA

Hi, like Unixman, I'm also doing the BSBA at TESC. Feel free to email me with any questions. I've tested out of about 90 credits.

I think the main difference between the TESC and Excelsior (with regards to testing out) programs comes down to a couple of classes.

TESC requires a higher level math. Pre-Calculus
Excelsior will not accept CLEP English comp w/essay

TESC also has a business communications requirement that has no equivalent exam. Not one I can find at least. Now if you have 110 credits you are probably only a few classes away. Logon to TESC. Click on prospective students. Click on degree programs. Click on BSBA. It will give you a breakdown of what you need.

    Good luck,

    Mike

    Just finished BSBA @ TESC

    Hey Tekman,
I just finished my BSBA @ TESC. I enrolled with about 110 credits, and after my evaluation, they dropped me down to 40. OUCH! They wouldn't accept a ton of my credits, as they said they weren't part of the BSBA degree plan. Be careful to cross check the credits you have, with their degree outline. I loved my professors, but the student support was horrible. I learned more about TESC here on degreeinfo.com, then I did from TeSC. That being said here are the exams that I took, (also how hard they were on a scale of 1-10):

TECEP: Business in Society (6) *
TECEP: Business Policy (Strategic Management) (6) *
    Dantes: Statistics (7)
    Dantes: Principles of Supervision (3)
    Dantes: Business Finance (10)
    CLEP: Principles of Management (2)
CLEP: ENG Comp w/ Essay (3)
    CLEP: Business Law (6)
    * required for BSBA degree

    Micro Economics: Ecourse (6)
    Macro Economics: ECourse (6)
    Managerial accounting: ecourse (9)
    Financial accounting: ecourse (9)
    Computer concepts: ecourse (5)
    Marketing w/electronic media: ecourse (5)

The rest of the units, I PLA'd. I might have forgotten a few exams, but overall this is fairly accurate. I finished off the 80 needed units in 14 months. I hope this helps, good luck.

    TEKMAN Semper Fi!

    Greetings,

Thank you for everyone's input. I talked to TESC representative on the phone, and she suggested me to apply for Bachelor Degree. I want to go for Criminal Justices, but they don't have it. So, I choose B.S in Business Administration. I looked at the degree curriculum, and came up with this conclusion.
I have to take the following exams:

    TECEP: English Comp I
    TECEP: English Comp II
    DANTES: Public Speaking
    CLEP: Macroeconomics
    CLEP: Microeconomcs
    CLEP: U.S History II
    DANTE: Prin of Statiscs
    DANTES: Astronomy
    CLEP: Intro Business Law
    CLEP: Prin of Accounting
    CLEP: Prin of Accounting
    DANTE: Prin of Finance
    CLEP: Principle of Marketing
    CLEP: Principle of Management
    DANTE: Management Info Sys

I believe about 55 credits from 110 apply to BSBA at TESC. Do you think it is a good idea to apply now to see what the evaluation or just take these exam before apply?

    Unixman,
Thank you very much, I read the great threat that you have...and I apply myself in your way.

    Hille,
Thank you very much for the email messages. I still need your advice since your family is a fan of TESC. lol

Last, but not least.......Thank you everybody!

I would recommend taking the exams before matriculating, especially if you are planning on using the comprehensive tuition plan - otherwise, its up to you.

BTW, I would recommend taking the CLEP English Composition with Essay, as it is computer-based and probably a bit easier than the TECEP ... it still counts as 6 credits.

    have you checked out COSC?

    Hey Tekman,
Have you checked out COSC? they might be more accepting of your credits than TESC. Another thing you might want to find out, CLEP English COmp with Essay is worth 6 units. i am pretty sure that will cover the 6 units at tesc, so you wouldn't need to take eng comp 1 and eng comp 2. CLEP's are generally quicker and easier than TECEP's too. I am glad that I went to TESC as I learned a ton, it seems to have a strong reputation among the DL colleges, and one way or the other, i finished.

If you have the time, (12-16 week semesters) the ecourses, and guided study at TESC are excellent. the professors are outstanding. I would consider taking them if you are concerned about a tough subject (finance, statistics, etc. ) You can build up your scores through assignments, and then the final is only half of the final grade. It lessens the chance of failing. I hope that helps.

    Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for follow-up. CLEP: English Composition? Been there, and done that. I am not a good writer, beside the topic in the exam was stupid...Finally I got 49. That is the most horrible exam I ever done in my life, and I am not going to take it again in 6 months. Maybe I am going to take English Composition at TESC.

I checked out COSC, and I don't like it... Some of the General Education at Troy University is required from College not CLEP/DANTES. Therefore, I am tricking Troy University because TESC put the exams in their own curriculum, and doesn't mention anything about exam on the transcript. Since TESC requires student to take 12 credits through the school for Bachelor degree. I think I am going to take....

    English Composition I
    English Composition II
    Business Communication
    Business Society
    Business Policy

I believe those three business classes cannot be taking through DANTE, or CLEP. Am I right? Does class at TESC require proctor for the exam? If so, how it can be done? Is it via Internet or paper-based?

P.S: I want to graduate with BSBA and BSCS before June 2006. "HOPEFULLY":)

Bus in Society and Bus Policy

    Hey DevilDog,
As for Business Policy and Business in Society, those were both TECEP exams. I took mine at Cal State San Marcos. I had to pay a $50 proctor fee on both. You might want to try the old USIU in Kearney Mesa. The testing department ladies are wonderful at each location. I found her through the Dantes testing center. I think they are called Alliant or Alliance University now.

I used the recommended text books as per the TESC website, and they prepared me sufficiently for the exam. One is called: Business and Society by Carroll; and Strategic Management by Irwin. I found both on eBay for around $5.

TESC also accepts ECE exams, and I'm fairly sure that ECE has an English Comp exam. The Tecep exams are very passable, but get ready to write. I got writers cramp with each one. The study guides provided for the teceps are excellent. (go to the TESC website)

You might be able to finish in June of 2005. Good luck.

    Proctor fee???

Use your local library for TECEP exams and forget that $50 proctir fee.

I've taken4 Teceps for cost of exam only.

    Good luck,
    Mike
