    Hello everyone,

Just wanting to help out a buddy of mine...I informed him on all the benefits of UMUC. I don't know much about Capella. Any thoughts? He's applying for their MBA, General Business Management, program. Thanks.

Can you tell us more about the MBA/MS program you're taking at UMUC? Is the dual Masters much shorter and cheaper than taking them separately? And -- how are you finding the program?

    Thanks.

UMUC offers several variations for their dual degrees. I'm completing my MBA first. I know many folks that are completing the MS first and find it difficult to get the classes they need. The dual Masters is much shorter vs. taking them individually. With that, the cost benefits are a given (less classes). Here's a link to their dual degree website:

So far the program has been challenging. Lot's of reading and I find myself emailing instructors constantly about assignments. I'm just getting started and I'm still trying to get use to the "online" classroom. I hope they start using the video format for future courses. Overall, the start has been decent; however, boring at times (email interaction is different from face-to-face).

Keep in mind UMUC is not AACSB accredited and the cost is pretty high.

    I hope this helps...

Are all the exams online? Are there any proctored exams?

    Thanks again!

    You're Welcome!

I believe some are proctored and some are online.

Anyone out there further along in any of UMUC's graduate programs that can answer this question? I know there's some UMUC instructors that subscribe to this forum. Are there any instructors out there that can answer this question?

Avoid Capella - their School of Business uses a new online course room - you may find more information at:

    Capella University Sucks

    Good Luck.

I am currently enrolled in UMUC's Master of Science in Management (Accounting) program. I've taken 4 courses. I will be transferring to Texas A & M - Commerce this Fall to the MBA program. I really have enjoyed my UMUC experience, but since I plan to teach I need to graduate from an AACSB-accredited school.

All of my exams have been online so far. I've had 4 accounting classes and each of them involved essays and case analysis/problems. Each exam I've written has been at least 9 pages long and took me about 5-6 hours to complete. I've usually been given 3 -5 days to complete the exams.

    Hope that helps.

    Good luck Carla.

Sounds like Texas A&M will accept all your courses from UMUC.
