theology discussion forums

hello, as a new member I was hoping some good member could recommend a theology discussion forum that had a distance education component. thanks

The discussion forum for which MeAgain provides the address in his signature is a good one. When I was there various levels of abilities and positions to discuss many issues in Christian Theology were represented. There also was a forum on Theology Review for learning, but it was undeveloped.

The advantage of such a place for the DL Theology student is that it can to some extent provide the discussion component of learning oft missed in DL study. I do miss the discussions I had with Dave the Roman Catholic at TR! Of course we disagree on Mary and Tradition and so forth , but IMO such discussion is good because it is a test of one's thinking. He tests me and I test him. That is good learning! Beliefs need to be tested (Rom 16:17; 1 Cor 14:29; 1 Thes 5:21)

Elsewhere a topic here on Degree Info now Law is said to be confrontational. I know it is, but IMO Theology equally or even moreso is a field of debate and uses a more difficult to master set of tools than Law. But I may be wrong.

Unfortunately many think they are qualified to do Theology as it is done , they think, just by faith, without attempting to use the proper tools .

But for one like me , who like to "talk" a lot, the problem is that it is time consuming to engage much in such talk if it is done in a significant and scholarly way.

The temptation becomes to entertain oneself in these lighter by far and varied in subject matter engagements instead of focusing one's energy and time on the one difficult and unchanging narrow dissertational topic.

If I were wiser I'd even limit severely my blathering here at Degreeinfo.

 

Theologyweb.com has a lot going on. All kinds of different, diverse theological issues, as well as other topics are covered.
