Howdy there. My girlfriend is currently attending Heald and is getting frusterated and feeling it's a waste of time (and money). She considered finishing her AA via the testing route, but after some thought, it doesn't look like that will be a good path for her. I know there are probably 1000s of business AA choices out there, so I was hoping someone could lend some recomendations.

    Basic criteria:

    - Have a fairly flexible program, so that the 1 year of Heald credits will be able to meet some of the requirements.

    - reasonable price.

    - ability for students to work at their own pace. Something without pre-set starting and ending class dates would be good.

    - a program that might be possible to finish in a quicker time than typical brick and morter community colleges.

    - RA school

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

I was checking their site earlier today, but couldn't find a list of tuition fees anywhere. Anyone have a relative idea of what they charge per credit hour?

Also, I was wondering if anyone was aware of any California community colleges that offered completely online AA programs. Community colleges here are extremely cheap, and I noticed when checking other state's community college online programs the per unit fee was about $300 on average.

Great question, I have not seen this asked before, so will be very interested in the answer.

What part of CA, if you don't mind me asking, as there may be a few that only require a few B&M classes.

    Greetings,

There are list of tuition of AIU online; it is extreamly expensive. Beside last time I read a post that AIU - Online transcript states that student earn their degrees through "ONLINE". Which is not good for applying a job, or higher education. Anyway, it is good to look at California Community Colleges.

    Foothill College offers:
    AA Anthropology
    AA Economics
    AA E-Commerce
    AA Gen Studies/Social Science
    AA Geography
    AA History
    AA Psychology
    Gen Ed Requirements
    AA Web Programming

There are more, but try to go to Charter Oaks State College or Thomas Edison State College via www.bain4weeks.com

The nice part about Sac is that the Los Rios community colleges have several campuses, but are transferrable to any of the schools. There is not only online classes, but TV classes, satellite campuses, etc.

And only about $12-15 a unit, I think.

    Sorry

Again, this sounds like the brick and mortar snobbery, which insists that because your transcript states online, you might as well hang it up.

Funny, my degree does not state online. My transcript does.

Both my AABA and BBA are from the online university, what has been my fate?

Well, let's see promoted to Sr. Mgmt in with a Fortune 200 corporation and living quite well. The key was not online, but a school of RA status.

As far as MBA qualifications. With my "online" degree I was accepted into Northwestern and the University of Chicago. The key again is not "online" but your GMAT. As far as those two, try 85K+ for the MBA program. Now that will put a dent in your pocketbook.

In regard to cost, AIU is rather expensive. Books for the
AABA program were $140.00 per 2 classes and tuition was $2040.00 per 2 classes. During my BBA program I found the cost not to much over average in comparison to UNI, Columbia, Capella, etc.

On last thing to remember, community colleges are wonderful and I will never vote against one. Seems most of the kids who go to a community college for the first 2 years are more grounded then the majority of spoiled brats who run off to fancy out of state B/M Universities on Pappy's dime.

All in all it is choice and cost. Not to mention RA, which is the real key.

    I wish you luck.

I appreciate the suggestions. I've found a couple pretty nice programs. It actually looks like it wouldn't have to be a business AA; it could be a general studies/liberal arts AA too.

One thing I'm curious about is transferring Heald's quarter credits to semester credits. As I understand, the conversion is a 2/3 ratio. But, many of Heald's courses have been 3 quarter units each...which would convert to 2 semester units. What I see, though, on many programs, is that requirements are listed as 3 units. Would a 3 quarter unit (2 semester unit) course be able to meet any general eduation or major requirements?
