    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can offer any opinion, stories, suggestions, etc... about instacert.com. I need to take the College Mathematics CLEP, and I have heard instacert is a good study tool. I am horrible @ math, that's why I am in grad school having to re-take these credits, since I "passed" the required math for my first bachelor's. Any advice is appreciated, I am trying to pool all of the study material I can as I do not want to have to take the math classes @ phoenix or GMU due to the extra cost, thanks!

I used instantcert for a number of CLEPS. I think it is a great tool to use to determine your knowledge of material and readiness to test. I do not think it is a good tool to gain knowledge of material.
Use the web and Half.com to buy your REA guides and you will do fine on CLEPS.

I passed every CLEP using REA Guides and the WEB. I never scored less than 59 on any exam. Again, I used Instantcert as my final tool to determine if/when I was ready to test.
19.95 isn't cheap but it was a great indicator of how I would do on the test and a good confidence builder for ascertaining knowledge of material. The questions on Instantcert seemed to be very similar to the actual CLEP questions. The difference is Instantcert is fill in the blank reply (needing even more knowledge of material) and CLEP is multiple choice (educated guessing gives you much better chances!).

    good luck

    thank you

Thank you for the information, I bought the book from collegeboard.com, downloaded the Acrobat file, and the entire princeton review on the math test. I am just going to have to buckle down for a couple weeks and study, thanks again.

  4. I use Instantcert and find it valuable for History-type exams. I'd rate it terrible for Math.

However, Instantcert is offering a "30-day Risk-Free Guarantee", so you can always check them out and then ask for a refund if you're not satisfied. Even if you don't get the money back $20 isn't a huge investment.

Where Instantcert works well is if you're planning a series of CLEP and/or DANTES exams that they cover - then the cost, amortized over a number of months, works out to be competitive.

    Cheers,
    Mark

If you can get past the typos and get over the fact that many (all?) of the questions seem to come from other, existing sources (Ex: study guide books from REA, COMEX, etc), then it is a decent tool to use. I used it for a few CLEPs ...

    Worth the $20

I've used Instantcert for several exams. They helped a lot for eng Comp w essay, history, principles of supervision & mgt type exams. They were worthless for Business finance. Overall they are worth the money. I would generally use them for 2-4 exams at a time, so the investment would be spread out over 2-4 exams. It is better to over invest on the exams, then not invest enough and fail one of them. Good luck
