As many of you know, I am fast approaching the completion of my BSBA from TESC. In my ongoing efforts of evaluating possible graduate schools that offer a distance MBA, I thought I had pretty much narrowed down the list to 4 or 5 schools (U of Florida, UMUC, Umass/Amherst, U Colorado at Colorado Springs, etc.). I then came across this web page last night: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Haven/2386/dlmba.html This looks like a pretty extensive list of schools that offer distance MBAs. Probably a good place to start researching if you are just beginning your search for a distance MBA. At any rate, I came across an entry for Georgia State University. I thought, "wow", I didn't know that. They are literally right down the street from me here in Atlanta (2 miles!). AACSB, and ranked in a few places. The relatively low in-state tuition makes this hard to leave off my list. I didn't see any mention of a distance MBA on their web site - so I'm wondering if perhaps it is an outdated entry in Johnny's school list, or maybe its an offering that is coming soon. Who knows? At any rate, I am curious to see if anyone out there has any experience with their program directly. Their Flex MBA looks quite promising. Cheers.
I took classes B&M at GSU. I was not impressed. Not supported, the professor's are taxed with a huge number of students, and had a bad experience altogether. I only took about 5-7 classes there, but had a poor expereince in 3 ranging from inability to get in touch with the professor, to grades issued with no feedback (essay). The DL program may be different, but I would be aware of their disregard to students up front. Good luck. (I have heard Florida's program is great).
Re: Re: Flexible MBA from Georgia State University Bad link, but nevertheless, I am talking about GA State University, not GA College & State University - different schools ... I am talking abut gsu.edu.
Yes, Marist is on my list as well. I have about 12-15 schools still on the list. They range from "I have a fat chance in hell of getting in", to "no worries, this is my safety school". I am drawn to the fact that GA State is so close to me, and they Flex MBA program offers courses during the day, night, and even on weekends, so I can really plan my courses around my schedule. Cheers.
Re: Re: Re: Flexible MBA from Georgia State University Oddly enough, "GA College and State University" and "GA State University" are two completely different institutions. (There must be a shortage of adjectives along with the surplus of gnats down there). The correct link for the distance MBA at GA College and State University is at "http://rome.gcsu.edu:8090/4DCGI/Catalog/Graduate" click on "Search For Degree Requirements by School/College/Department" It has been explained to me that the link I provided originally is "created" by this search and cannot be used to access the distance MBA page directly.
I live in the Atlanta area and looked into the Georgia State program when choosing where to do my MBA. Georgia State does not offer an online MBA program, but only a part-time program downtown or in Alpharetta. I chose UMass and have been very pleased with the program. Four more classes to go!
