Is anyone currently taking coursework through UNISA? I wish to know if universities and accrediting bodies in the USA recognize them. During the Reagan years and apartheid I was advisedby American univerisyt counselorsnot to take courses through them, but I sent away for their syllabi and reading lists and showed them to some instructors. They thought the required readings were sound and the same thing they would have students read. Your thoughts, please. Thanks!

I was seriously considering UNISA's Doctor of Business Leadership degree last year. I ran UNISA by the admissions office at the RA-AACSB University I teach at. I was told UNISA is considered equal to RA.

I was accepted to the program but must put my plans on hold for now.

There are several people on the forum engaged in study through UNISA. Searching the UNISA threads will give you the best list. Charles has been helpful to many (including myself) who have had questions regarding his experience with this school and you might consider sending him a personal message with specific questions. In general, my impression is that this is an acceptable school and that access to programs has improved over the past several years. They offer a remarkable range of degree programs and the cost is better than anywhere else in the world (for RA equivalent, English speaking, 100% non-residential foreign universities)

You probably noticed that this thread is relatively old and so I guessing that vical is not around to answer your questions. Most UNISA doctoral programs do not require you to be on campus. Some accomodation must be made for your dissertation defense (skype, etc.) Accreditation should not be a problem but many people have their degrees reviewed by a credential review service to demonstrate equivalency. I've never heard of a UNISA degree falling short of it's US counterpart. It's worth it to spend some real time browsing through their website because virtually all these questions are answered there and it will be more assuring to hear the answers from the school itself. By the way, don't bother trying to email them. They can't possibly answer emails from thousands and thousands of casual inquiries.
