    hi,

i'm currently graduated from aiu online with a associate's degree in business. all of my credits were accepted from excelsior's unofficial review as 67 credits from the way the quarter hours converted to semester hours. i'm not really quite sure what went there, but i do know that excelsior wants me to complete the exam in english composition that's clep for my credits for the writing requirement. i'm positive i can pass that so that will be 73 credits. the unofficial review didn't tell me much but i do know that the one literature class i had was accepted from excelsior into the english major.

i'm thinking about trying to do a portfolio assessment for the english requirements that aren't fulfilled by that class or by the analyzing and interpreting lit. exam i want to take. i want to do this through athabasca in canada. does this sound like a good plan and should i go ahead and enroll with excelsior? i'd first like to see how many credits i was awarded for the english courses i want to develop a portfolio for. i espescially want to earn all of the upper-level requirements that way. i'm wanting to go to excelsior because i want a major -- and i dont' really have anything against the liberal arts options, but think it's a little more conveinent to be able to easily tell people what the majority of your studies were in.....but any other info is appreciated...

You can also earn up to 30 semester hours by passing the English Lit GRE. I'd take that first if you decide to, allowing you to possibly bypass the other lit exams. If you plan to mostly test out of the remaing credits to your degree, Excelsior is a great option.

    Huh?

I don't think Athabasca does portfolio. They do have challenge exams, however. I this what you mean?

    mojo knows different.

athabasca does offer prior learning assessment (or portfolio assessment). please visit http://prior-learning.athabascau.ca/ and click on the link that's on the center of the page....
