I'm in the process of selecting a PhD / DBA program, and as you can probably imagine, there's a terrific amount of information to sift through and evaluate. The domestic choices are Sarasota and Capella. (UNISA and Australians being offshore options) Since I live in Minnesota, Capella sure has an advantage for residency requirements!

Is anyone out there currently enrolled in the Capella program or a graduate of the Capella program? If so, what is your opinion of the program or what was your experience with them?

I'm managing through all the information, but some real-life experience would be appreciated.

Rick, I am a doctoral student at Capella. I just completed my written and oral comps last month. Having finished with the coursework portion, I am now "all but dissertation". Additionally, I teach a couple of classes in the BSIT program.

I have found my Capella experience to be engaging, satisfying, challenging, and personally rewarding. I have had good experiences with my course tutors and chose my mentor well as he has worked with me in a constructive and supportive fashion.

The education and business programs allow for significant flexibility in meeting the learning objectives. You can take most classes online, or work in a self-directed fashion under the guidance of a course tutor.

I very much enjoyed my two weeks in Minnesota on the campus of Northwestern College. Those two weeks, along with the three, 2 and a half day focus seminars really helped to make my program gel and to develop a connection with other learners.

The administrative issues seemed to be pretty transparent. They are responsive and have what seems to be a well run learner services program.

I would be happy to try and answer any specific questions offline if you like.
