When should I apply for graduate school?

Hi guys, would love your advice on something.

As many of you know, I am currently racing towards the end of my goal of obtaining my BS in business from TESC. The end is finally in sight! As it stands right now, I should meet all the requirements for degree conferrence around November or December (worst case scenario, January 2005).

I am in the process of also evaluating various graduate schools for an MBA. My question is this:

When, realistically, should I apply to the graduate schools on my list? I know I will need to take the GMAT first, but if I take the GMAT now, can I go ahead and apply even before I fully meet the TESC degree requirements?

My goal is to limit the amount of downtime that I have. So if my grad school starts in Feb/05, for example, I don't want to "miss the boat" and have to wait another year.

Hope this makes sense - love to hear your thoughts. :)

    Cheers.

Do you have any schools in mind? The type of school (and specific school) would determine if you need to take the GMAT, if there is rolling admission, if you could start in the Spring, etc. I would definetly start the process now, you don't want to be left out of the running. It really depends on the school though.

Do you have any ideas, or maybe put up your criteria, and the board can help you decide. Some factors: Accreditation, tuition, on site residencies, lock stop program, B&M affiliation, prepreqs. Just a few to get you started. ;)

From that list, you could narrow down when you need to start the process. Maybe narrow to a couple, and then look at their admission criteria.

Not quite was I was looking for ... I have already made a list, and narrowed it down, etc. Let me rephrase my question a bit:

How can I fill out an admissions form without yet having the undergraduate degree?

Sorry, just put under the BS area "Current", then put your GPA up to this point.

Also, if you expect to graduate with honors, put that withan "expected". It is very common to apply before graduation.

    Thanks for the followup, Han.

The only problem that I can see running into now is the GPA part. As it stands right now, my degree from TESC is comprised of mostly CLEP exams, DANTES exams, and portfolio assessments. I only have a few letter grades from a couple of older transfer credits and a class or two that I will be taking soon. Do I just put that GPA? Doesn't seem quantitative at all, but ...
