Right know I'm doing my MBA at UNA, however when I complete my MBA I would like to go for a second masters degree mostly just for personal enrichment. My second master degree would not be business related. It would probably be MA in Museum Studies, or MA in Mass Communication from U of Leicester, or MSc in Criminal Justice from Boston U. My concern is that If I get a second masters degree that is non business related that it might work against me. I am afraid that an employer might look at me and because I have two masters degrees in two different subjects, and I am still very young they might get the impression that I am not committed and don't know what I want. What do you guys think?

I'm not at all convinced that a second Master's degree would work against you, but if you think it might you can decide on a case by case basis whether or not to include it on your resume.

Frankly, given the number of people getting MBAs a second Master's degree might help in differentiating you from other candidates.

Kind of like the joke here in Alabama.....a person wanted to check into a motel and was asked for a driver's license or ID card. He replied, I don't have either but I have a copy of my MBA diploma. The desk clerk said, I'm sorry, that won't work, so many people have them that they are not a reliable means of identification. We need either a driver's license or gov't issued ID card. "" left out on purpose!

    Leave it off the CV.

If you think that leaving it off the CV is a material omission, stick it in the hobbies and other section.

You could even bring it up at interview to say that I'm spending my weekends doing an MA because it's fun and intellectually enriching.

Would having an MBA plus an MA in Museum Studies be such a bad thing if you were looking for a CEO job with a museum? (would that be a good ROI though)

How about an MBA + MA Comms if you were looking for a gig in corporate PR?

I think in either of those situations, the double masters would be a very good thing.

Now, if you were thinking of getting a job in information services with that pair of masters....

I have in the past thought about getting into PR work. I would also like to get into journalism someday and see how it goes. So I was thinking an MBA and a second masters in something like communications or international relations would really give me a led up in those careers.

I was think something similar also. Most people out there only have a bachelors degree. So if an employer saw that the person has earned two RA masters degrees, and even though they are not exactly related to the job the candidate is applying for. I am still sure that the employer would be very impressed, and that the candidate would make a lasting impression on the employer that they are someone who is a very high achiever, hard working, and has a lot of drive. Which in my opinion are very good impressions to make.

Probably depends on the industry and employer. Some might say damn college boy... or attribute your degrees to professional student status and assume that you've avoided entering the real world. I think you'd need some real time work experience to go with those degrees as well...

    Just my thoughts though.

You do have a very good point. However let us not forget that we are talking about distance learning degrees here and one of the beauty's of distance learning is that you can work full time well earning your degree.

Marking the second masters as night school (sic) or something similar emphasizes that this is on top of your ft work record and that you do this because you are exceptionally industrious and driven. I would list the thing. You are likelier to come across, if anything negative, as a workaholic rather than as a dilettante, and that may not hurt, actually.

not everyone thinks that way. It may go against you. This may show that you are not stable and change your mind with respect to what you want to do. I think its not a good idea. stick to what you want to do and achieve higher instead of jumping here and there and not being proficient in any field.

NEVER admit to an MBA if you wish to land a museum position of any type. Simple as that. I know this to be a fact from hard personal experience because I once ended up on the receiving end of some rather snarky comments about MBAs when I asked why I wasn't hired for a museum position.
