What bothers me most about the UC situation is that they are turning away qualified citizens of California, but still taking in some foreign and out of state citizens. Sorry - that is complete bullshit. I wrote a letter to my state senator recommending the following changes to admissions programs.

    Priorites

    1. Citizens over the age of 35 and residents of CA for no less than the last 5 years. They pay the bulk of taxes, they should be given some advantages.

    2. Citizens that qualify with good grades, SAT's, special needs, etc.

    3. Non-resident citizens that qualify with good grades, SAT's, etc.

#10001. Students on visa's and out of country residents. Sorry, if they want to go to an American school, try a full priced private school like Stanford. Even when you pay full tuition, it is still heavily subsidized by the California taxpayer. Why should I pay for someone from China or Europe.

That is a VERY good point.
