According to ACU's information. With my background and history I will only need to write a thesis to get my bachelors degree.
Does anyone have any information on American Central University and its legitimacy?

First off, no legitimate & recognized school would offer such an option.

Futhermore, their website http://www.online-degrees.biz/ (if I didn't already know better) would certainly raise my eyebrows. The website is registered to a "J.William" to a Monrovia, Liberia address. Saint Regis University, one of the most notorious or dare I say "popular" diploma mills is based in Monrovia. Similar degree mills have set up shop in Liberia including Breyer State University & Canyon College just to name a few.

Although I'm sure you get the point by now here's one final thing: Their "accreditor" "The International Distance Education & Training Council" is a total phony whose only purpose is confuse others with THE USDOE RECOGNIZED Distance Education & Training Council (DETC).

To summarize, stay far away my good friend.

If you're looking to convert life experience into college credit then I STRONGLY suggest you check with The BIG 3:

    Thomas Edison State College: www.tesc.edu
    Charter Oak State College: www.cosc.edu
    Excelsior College: www.excelsior.edu

    Best of luck,

    multiple ACU's

If I recall correctly (search on degree info), American Central University seemed to be operated by the same folks who started up the interloper version of American Coastline University-- the one whose domain name ended in ".org."

According to Hawaii, the one ending in ".edu" is Richard J. Hoyer's. The ".org" version disappeared after a few weeks, perhaps through the activities of Mr. Hoyer to suppress it. The American Central University site appeared some weeks after that.

Take a look here for more information.
