I'm grateful to a correspondent for the following reference to parliamentary debate in Trinidad. It seems one of the top forensic pathologists in the country had his testimony disallowed in a court case because his doctorate is from Pacific Western University. This MP, amid much "desk thumping"* was demanding an investigation into such places, as they may impact life in Trinidad.**

    * Is desk thumping a national sport in this country?

** The fact that Professor Emir Mohammed is from Trinidad is almost certainly irrelevant to this particular matter, although the notion of a citizen who is on the faculty of Robert Kennedy University might well be cause for additional desk thumping.

Desk thumping is a national sport in any parliamentary democracy. It is usaully accompanied by shouts of "here..here" from members of the MP's own party.

Surely the World renown and celebrity status of Professor Mohammed would be a source of pride to his fellow Trinidadians. No?
