No, becasue it is usually an either or proposition (certificate or degree). There are very few programs where the certificate is inlcuded (or can be included) as part of the degree. Most US schools certificate programs include courses that are not part of the masters, or take the place of course that has different content then the masters.

While this seems to be a topic with several recent thrads, and much has been said, it is my opinion that this is not a normal progression, and trying this will extend the time required. Also you will probalby find that most schools have a required course list and required credit level (how many credits) that need to be taken wiht a limit to the course that can transferred in. Also many (most in my experience) require that the courses have not been used for a previous degree (this means that if you complete a certificate the course from that certificate can not be used for a masters, new courses must be taken even if the material is the same).

This is just my take on the subject based on dealing with regionally accredited engineering and business schools.
