We are a private fine art studio school in Toronto, Canada and Florence, Italy. Especially in Canada, students are asking for help in getting academic credit toward their degrees (art history, fine arts, humanities) for completing the curriculum at our school. Our full-time non-degree program takes about 4 years to complete; this is not a Sunday painter or hobby school, but serious training for professional artists.

The ins and outs of getting credit for portfolios and by learning contract, etc., are a bit beyond our administrators and we're hoping to find an advisor who could be available to the school as a whole and to individual students as a counsellor.

The first job we have in mind for this DE Advisor is to write some guidelines for a student handout and for our website, and the ongoing work would consist of advising individual students who want both the training we offer and an academic degree.

If you're interested, pr if you can recommend someone, please have a look at our Canadian website at http://www.angelartacademy.com, and reply to this message.

(BTW, we have the current version of Bears' Guide, but we don't have the time or experience to get the best results from it.)

Hello - I would also vist the Council for Adult Experiential Learning (www.cael.org) and review their publications on the topic.

    Regards,

Thanks for the help, Mike. I did send off an email to them late on Friday, so haven't heard back as of yet (nor would I expect to have given the time difference). What they describe is something that I do on a regular basis for my counseling clients.
