    Hi all --

Things are chugging along and I need some long term advice. I am still a year or so away from a BA in liberal arts (concentrating on journalism/communication/art history). I have been tinkering with the idea of a journalism master's but the more I read and think about it, I'm starting to believe that it would be better to get a master's in something else entirely. I have experience in the field and by the time I graduate I will have amassed a nice amount of clips and a semi- pretigious internship along the way. From what I've read, an M.A. may be redundant for me. Also, I don't plan to work in newspapers.

So what I'm wondering is this: For a writer who would eventually like to work doing something interesting but still in the writing/editing field (criticism, museum relations, magazine, pr, corporate... anything but newspapers!), what sort of M.A. do you all think would serve my purposes? And please keep in mind that the M.A,. would also work as a sort of "fall back" mechanism i.e. if I end up not wanting to write/edit in the end, I could do something else with it.

Sorry this is so long but I'm trying to figure out what to do when I grow up (unfortunately I have never known!).

    THANKS!
    Reed
