They seem like a really good school. So far they are very friendly and helpful. They also offer independent study course that are good from what I can tell. You can use financial aid at anytime for the courses, so thats a plus for me. Anybody else have experience with this program? If you do I would love to hear any input that you may have. Also, they publish on their website what requirements cleps and dantes fullfill. Pretty neat I thought. Plus they only require 18 obtained from them to graduate from their program. Thanks
Pug, here tis... http://www.mountainstate.edu/ I am calling today to check on the Interdisciplinary studies. I am not sure if it is DL only but I'll post after I talk to them.
And I'd like to add that Christy Bishop, with whom I've conversed several times, is very helpful, friendly, and prompt in her replies. I like this school.
Michael, Both the MS and MA can be earned by DL and 25 credits can be earned in a number of ways for the interdisciplinary part. 11 credits will be taken from Mountain State. My discussion with Christy, you were right on about her being helpful, touched on a bunch of areas, including the methods of earning credit. Essentially if the Methodology is approved by the committee you can earn these credits by whatever means, research, transfer, taking classes, portfolio, etc... NA credits can count if you work them into the methodology and they are approved. This program seems real close to a research based Masters. Plus the tuition rate is favorable. Skidadl, I have an acquaintance who lives in the Beckley area and is taking ground classes at this school. I never realized they also had a DL presence. He really likes the atmosphere and says the classes are first rate. If you have a specific question feel free to PM or post and I'll try to get an answer. Regards,
Fed, Right--both the MA and MS; I mentioned only the MA because that's the one I'm interested in. You said, "NA credits can count..." What are NA credits?
Nationally Accredited. i.e. DETC programs. You have to work these into the Methodology and get them accepted.
