I received an email today with a survey from Charter Oak proposing a masters degree in "organizational Effectiveness". The really interesting thing here is that they claim that they will allow six transfer credits (not unusual) and, get this, nine credits from portfolio and testing. This is the first I've heard of these methods used or tentatively approved for post graduate degrees. Anyone else get this email, or is it just us COSC grads?
I can't seem to find anything about it on the COSC web site, so it must have been sent exclusively to alumni. Tony
The email went out only to current students and graduates. At this point, Charter Oak State College is only exploring the feasibility of, and interest in, such a program.
Yes! I'm so impressed with them as a means of finishing my Bachelor's that I would be delighted to find them starting a Master's program. I've never seen postgraduate credit by portfolio, but Heriot-Watt's MBA exclusively uses testing. I sent in my application fee (including for an official evaluation) about two weeks ago and await a response. I did not receive this email. Could someone forward it to me? [email protected] Thanks, -=Steve=-
I got it and it states"The degree is 36 credits and allows for transfer of up to 6 credits and allows for up to 9 credits to be earned through portfolio development or testing, based on meeting program outcomes. The remaining credits have to be earned from COSC. There would be two on ground sessions, one at the beginning and one at the end. The rest of the sessions would be online."
Maybe this COSC innitiative will help accelerate Excelsior's MBA program which has been in development for a couple of years.
