I watched the first episode of the Swan. It was sad. I find this type of "Reality TV" to be the most morally bankrupt.

I have always been interested in the reality tv genre, but I have to agree that "The Swan" is in many ways, "morally bankrupt".

And from what I understand, the "experts" that perform services on this show are all just okay, but none are judged as truly superior in their fields. I guess this is just one example of how it's not WHAT you know...but WHO you know.

It's a shame that people like this get credibility by simply being on television.

California Coast is far from a diploma mill. A substantial amount of work is required for a doctoral degree and no credit is given for life experience. A CCU doctorate allows one to be licenced as a clinical psychologist in California. Granted, a doc. degree from CCU is probably not as rigorous as a RA doctorate but the school is certainly not a diploma mill. I believe some of the senior members of this forum such as John Bear and Rich Douglas who most would consider DL experts would agree with this.

    She is licensed...

A quick lexis search confirms she has been licensed MARRIAGE /FAMILY/ CHILD COUNSELOR since 1986.

You envoke my name, you invite my comment.

CCU is most decidely NOT a diploma mill. While I've criticized their DBA program (the one with no dissertation), and I've wondered about the academic rigor of their other courses, I've always maintained that CCU is legitimate. Now, one might question the utility of CCU's degrees, but that's another matter.

I look forward to CCU's accreditation by DETC. No guarantee that it will happen, of course, but such a development would be good news for the school. And if it doesn't, a whole lot of people on other fora will have to shut up for a while.
