Does anyone out there know of an accredited DL program in safety which would meet the necessary OSHA requirements for certification. Thanks

CSP or OHST, not BA/BS for Safety

In hardcore safety work, often a CSP or OHST certification is more valuable than a safety degree. Most OSHA types I work with have engineering or even business degrees, if they are degreed at all. The OHST (occupational health and safety technologist) and the more recognized CSP (certified safety professional, with the necessary precursor, ASP, associate safety professional) certifications are geared toward the technical, compliance arm of safety dominated by self employed consultants.

Safety is loked upon differently if you want to be in management, more of a generalist perspective. Safety professionals often get involved with HRM (workers comp and insurance), loss protection (shoplifiting mostly), and environmental management.

In my opinion, you need not specialize in safety (as a degree) to go far in the field. I have an AAS in Safety but will not pursue any more "formal" safety education, but I will transisition to teaching soon anyway.

Just 2 cents from a safety guy
