Canadian Virtual University, a consortium of 10 leading Canadian universities, is in business . www.cvu-uvc.ca

Can somebody tell me if it is cheaper to get your 4-year Bacc. degree through the CVU or by examinations or portfolio with the three DL ( COSC, TESC, Excelsior ) ?

It depends. The CVU is designed for those students who wish to pursue an entire degree online. The tuition fees are in Canadian dollars. You will need to check each school to see if you are eligible for advanced standing or if you can transfer credits previously earned at other universities.

On the other hand, it may be cheaper for you to "test out" through one of the three "big" DL schools in the U.S. You need to take into consideration the following:
    (1) how many credits do you have that will be accepted by COCS, TESC or Excelsior.
    (2) can I afford to pay tuition in U.S. dollars?
    (3) how much time will I save in earning my degree if I "test out" rather than take traditional online courses?

You will need to look at each of these options before making a decision. Best of luck.

Canadian Virtual University OR the big DL three ?

    Roy,

My question was not a personal one but trying to determine which way to a 4-year undergraduate degree( Baccalaureate) is cheaper in money and time.

You mentioned U.S. dollars but I was surprised to discover, for example, that a 3-credit course at Athabasca University was costlier in U.S. dollar funds than a 3-credit course at the three big DL ( COSC, TESC and Excelsior ).

Also, in Canada and probably with the Virtual University generally the universities DO NOT ACCEPT credit by examination or credit by portfolio. Remember that with the 3 big DL one can theoretically complete all credits by examination and it has been done . Please, check BAin4weeks web site for more detail( about 4000 U.S. dollars max ).

This Canadian Virtual University is not really a bargain in time or in money COMPARED to the big three DL. My humble opinion.
