Something good to say about Touro University International

    Hello,

With all the problems being talked about around here with University of Phoenix ( UoP) and American Intercontinental University ( AIU ) I thought I would post a positive comment about Touro University International ( TUI ).

Although I have not had any major issues so far during my studies I have had plenty of smaller issues that I've contacted TUI about. The largest issue involved my being sent home from a deployment (I'm in the military) and the trip home taking longer then planned. I was not going to have Internet/computer access for a week and this would cause me to miss a submission deadline. I emailed my GA and professor and to my surprise I received a response the same day from the GA, the professor as well as the Dean of the Business School wishing me luck and not to worry that I could submit the assignments as soon as I made it home a week later.

I have been very impressed by the level of help and concern that has been conveyed by everyone I've dealt with at TUI. The admissions counselors were very helpful, my academic advisor has been very responsive as has the teaching staff.

The only thing I wish was different at TUI was the name recognition. Whenever I'm asked where I attend school I get the questions "where is that, is that an accredited school?" I hope this will change with time.

I'm very happy with my decision to pass on UoP and AIU and go with TUI. I hope this may help someone else.

    What's the buzz

I've been wanting to apply to the TUI 05 Business PhD program.. but it seems to be in limbo.

    Anyone have the scoop?

    Hello,

    I notice your signature bar.

Tell me, how was your graduate experience at Touro. I am signed to begin with the University Alliance i.e. Tulane, Jacksonville, Villanova combination.

Any insight you could supply would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I counseled numerous navy folks for three years and recommended Touro. Without exception, those who were serious were able to work with the professors. The advantage is that for one thing, the graduate assistants are all PhD's, plus you don't buy books--the materials are provided on CD. If you have TA through the military, the deal can't be beat. I asked one of my students near the end of his undergrad degree with Touro how he assessed the learning. He said, "Well, it's not difficult if you keep up, but it's challenging." He stated that it was only after the first three or four courses that he realized how much he had learned. Ternahan

That's not quite true. We are PhD students. Most of us are working on our dissertation, though, which is the last phase of the program.

I think the program was really good. I took 8 credits per semester and was able to keep up with all the assignments.

The last two classes I took, IT Capstone and Marketing were killers. I put in twice as much time as the other classes. I don't know if it was just the combination of two hard classes or their program changed.

I did not have GA's for those last classes and the PhD professors expected so much more in the way of quality and analysis. I kind of wish the other classes would have been as challenging as the last two because I was forced to learn so much more.

I like the fact that the courses did not charge for books because everything was on CD but I do wish they could offer a "recommended" book so I could have something to reference in the future.

I would recommend this program to anyone!

    My input

I have been a GA at TUI for a couple of years, and I can tell you that the mantra there is, "there is no problem we can't solve." They want all of their students to be satisfied, and to finish the program. Now, it might result in some inconveniences, but we will not run into the problems we hear about at UOP.

Concerning name recognition. When I am away from the St. Louis area and tell people where I got my MBA, they say, "Where is that?" There are many good schools with no name recognition. So, the main thing is that you get you degree from an accredited school that provides a rich opportunity. TUI is definitely that.

BTW, thank GOD they have had accreditation issues. Without them, their progress might have been slower. I can say that the PhD program is getting better and better....also more rigorous in their acceptance and coursework. Glad I got in and got my work done when the standards were low. haha
