Looks like I didn’t have much luck. I took my first MBA class with the toughest professor they have and got C in it. I was close to B but still missed it for 2-3 points.
Now I wonder should I take the same class from some online school over summer while everything is still fresh in my mind (Statistics)!?

Would they have to recognize my new better grade if it is from some other accredited university and at the same masters level (500 class)? My University is AACSB accredited.

Is there anything I could do to change my grade? I would just need 2 more weeks of study to score B.
I hate to be marked with a C grade for life like that and put on probation. It is kind unfair to me.

Please give me your advice. Should I just move on and score an A in the next class to make it up? I do have 2 semesters to bring up my grade.

    Thank you.

    Mike,

depends on the class and whether you will need it for building upon later. I made 1 "C" in my program, similar to you (missed a B by 1 point). Did I like it, no, but I learned a good deal about expectations from good professors. In most schools even if you repeat the course your grade will be an average of the two. My advice is to learn from it, move on, and pick up an "A" to offset.

    Good Luck

It depends. (Bear in mind that I have no experience in an MBA program; these are thoughts based on my own work--including re-dos--in other fields. I hope you get some specific input from MBA-ers, too.)

If the content of the course isn't that critical--presuming you're far enough into the program to know that one way or the other--just forge ahead and let a rising tide of better grades float this one, too. I doubt that one mediocre grade will ruin things for you, especially at the beginning. Probation won't show up on your final transcript, so you will bear no stigma from that. You are taking it as a signal to redouble your efforts, and that's what probation is designed to incite.

If the content is really critical, your idea of redoing the course this summer under other auspices is a great way of making sure you've got the material locked down. I'd encourage you to do that, if you have the time and money. The repetition may seem like a waste of time, but likely it is not a waste. If it seems humiliating to you, get over that feeling. The important thing is to learn the stuff you need to learn. Self-promises that you'll review the material and get it learned thoroughly are often hard promises to keep. The structure of doing the course again, and the fresh perspective of doing it elsewhere, ought to serve you well--regardless of whether or not this leads to a better grade on your record.

It's called guts. Good for you. Best wishes, Janko

You might want to check to see if you even can take the class else where and transfer it in over a class you already have taken. Many grad programs limit what you can transfer specially after you are enrolled and taking classes.

    Thank you so much.

You all got some valid points.

It was my first grade school class ever and I did some beginner mistakes, which I don’t plan to repeat any time soon.

Mike, I did ask them if I can take it elsewhere to get a better grade and they said that I couldn’t which did not sound right to me.
Is it not showing my dedication and willingness to put in some more money and time for the sake of knowing the material better?? I thought they would appreciate that?

I don’t even remember when did I get a C last time so this was quite embarrassing to me, personally.

Anyways, I guess I learned my lesson and I’ll be better equipped next time.

    Thanks again.
