    Hi all,

I meant to ask this question a week ago. How did y'all find out about this forum? I found out about it from Best Education Degrees by Distance Learning, but I'm guessing that not everyone else has! :) I think it would be interesting to see all the pathways that lead to degreeinfo!

    Regards,
    Adrienne

I found it during a search for a DL MBA program on Google. I think I was looking for specifics on Amberton at the time.

The owners/administrators, who were active contributors on alt.distance.ed (AED) at the time (prior to the advent of this forum), informed other AED contributors that they have created a new forum for distance learning discussions. AED at that time was on the verge of giving up the ghost, which it later did and the rest is history. I visited this forum recurrently for more than six months as a guest before I finally decided to register and post my first message, perhaps because of my uneasiness with the idea of a moderated Internet forum. I have always believed in and supported free speech, especially in the cyberspace, but the garbage, innuendos, calumnies, fabrications, smears, and baseless lies that are coterminous with AED of recent and present memories have left me wondering and pondering. Differing points of views notwithstanding, I sincerely believe that new comers and truth seekers who wish to acquire genuine educational credentials will not be misled if they visit this forum regularly.

Like Rich, I'm an old salt that came here when the "abandon ship" call went out on the a.e.d. newsgroup.

In rather pleasant tones of blue and grey.

I don't recall how I found degreeinfo.com but I don't think it was through the less-than-wonderful fora. I was probably searching for something else.

I came over from aed when this forum was first started. Unfortunately the degree mills apparent willingness to hire trolls to destroy aed has convinced me that a serious unmoderated forum on distance learning can no longer exist.

Came over from aed when it imploded. It became bizarre, childish, and frankly sick as mill operators or their trolls destroyed any meaningful discussion about anything other than whether John Bear had a comb over (can't remember all of the stupid attacks on Dr. B but they amounted to this or in some cases slander).

Degreeinfo was a breath of fresh air.

Back in 1995 I almost got Duped by Columbia State University and had actually sent the check, I found AED where Dr. Bear et. al. were discussing it regularly, graciously Dr. Bear actually contacted me on a Sunday evening very late and told me to cancel the check and I did. From there I checked in on AED every once in awhile and one time found that no-one was there anymore and all moved over here, hence here I am...

I arrived at Degreeinfo via the link on John Bear's site.

That is why I erroneously assumed this was John's discussion board.

Oh, okay. Going back, I found BG 6 in Barnes and Noble in Boston in 1980. I read everything I could find about this field, sent off for hundreds of catalogs (wish I'd kept them), and eventually decided (in 1986) to pursue a Ph.D. at Union in 1986. I then asked John to serve on the committee (I didn't know him then, I just asked). Somewhere along the way, someone told me about a.e.d. From there, to here.
