Is anyone aware of any RA accredited (US Schools) or Foreign (legitimate) institution that would allow a student to enroll in a Doctorate or Ph.D program without that student first receiving a Masters Degree or while he/she is completing a Masters Degree (from another insitution)? As always your comments are received with gratitude. Shay
Northcentral University is a DL option. There are probably others but that is the first one that comes to mind. Non-DL, there are a lot. Basically you enroll in the doctorate program and pick up your masters during the process. If you can do a fulltime, non-DL program, check out most state universities and see if there is a program in your field.
Capella is accredited and I believe you can do this in the Business PhD program, I'm not sure about the others.
Doctorate without Masters Both my wife and her brother have doctorates from Ivy league schools and neither have Master's degrees.
When I was researching for my program I discovred that most schools will do this (PhD w/o masters), but this normally will not get you out of any work as the requirements are some many creidts after a bachelors. If you have a masters, you can deduct a certain number of credits from that (usually equivalent to a masters). In the three programs I looked at it was about 72 credits after the BS, and 42 credits after a masters (with 30 credits being allowed for the masters). One program I looked at (but did not apply to as it was full time day - UCB CM actually has you do all the work for a masters then take the conps at whihc point you either complete the masters or move on to the PhD.
Capella, like many traditional universities, allows entrance into a doctoral program with a bachelor's degree. However, as with other universities that have this policy, the number of credits and courses needed for those with a BS/BA include the equivalent of a Master's degree along the way. That is to say, if you enter these programs with an MS you take fewer courses and require fewer credits to complete the PhD program than if you had entered with a BS/BA.
