Does anyone have any knowledge/opinions about the University of Lincoln in the UK? They offer an MA by Learning Contract which looks interesting.
The Government recognised body is the University of Loncolnshire and Humberside. If this is what you mean then the degree is legitimate although I can't speak as to the quality thereof. If it is a body calling itself the University of Lincoln, then check their URl. it should be in the .ac.uk domain if legitimate. There have been problems with similar names in the past. E.g. the legitimate Staffordshire University and the degree mill Stafford University.
It's an ex-polytechnic, and gained university status along with all the other ex-polys in 1992. Generally, in most of the reviews of the UK HE sector it comes out fairly near the bottom of the pile. I like them so far; they have been responsive, and the fees are not as high as some other UK universities.
HE Rankings Thanks for the links Angela. Poor Thames Valley University comes in at the bottom on every list I've ever seen. Warwick has become very strong - surprised that Leicester doesn't score higher. I'm trying to think of an evaluation done last year of academic departments and the Oxford Brookes History Dept came out ahead of Oxford University's History Dept. That was very surprising.

According to a bulletin from the University of Leicester at http://ebulletin.le.ac.uk/news/2000-2009/2004/nparticle-rh6-btk-pxc on the web, the Guardian's most recent ranking contained a data error. Now that they have fixed the error, Leicester has risen from #48 to #27. Regards, J. Ayers
