    Yes, very interesting indeed, particularly this passage:

    "One employer told a graduate of Union Institute and University -- another member of the distance-learning family -- that he would be better off dropping mention of his alma mater from his curriculum vitae."

    Wonder who that grad was?

    No one knows, but it was repeated from an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education. I'm sure the person had the same opinion about all DL doctoral degrees.

    I liked Russell from NCSUs comment about a distance doctorate: ''It's just tougher,'' he says. ''It's not as pleasant. It requires much more self-motivation.''

    Registration is free with the NYTs as it is with Washington Post and LA Times and many other online editions of papers (London Telegraph and Guardian, but London Times charges).
