The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand is government-owned and funded, delivering courses throughout New Zealand and internationally.

All courses meet rigorous and transparent quality standards. They are either accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority or approved by the New Zealand Polytechnic Programmes Committee. There is industry involvement in the development of most courses and programmes and close relationships are also maintained with appropriate professional and industry bodies.

Over 170 programmes and 1500 courses staircase from certificate to diploma and degree level (Levels 1-7 on the National Qualifications Framework). They range from technical and vocational training to higher professional and continuing education.

    An astute post zvavda.
I enjoyed 23 1/2 years as a tutor on campus at TOPNZ, between 1968 and 1992. Since 1992 I have been employed as an adjunct tutor, in a variety of courses/subjects. My wife has also been employed at TOPNZ full-time, on the admin side, for 18 years.
TOPNZ is undoubtedly a world leader in DL education, as is the NZQA Framework which allows lots of scope for Recognition of Prior Learning, so much so that two of my associates gained National Certificates totally through the NZQA Recognition of Prior Learning system.
Annual student enrolments at TOPNZ are around 40,000.
