Hello. I am in my thirties and I have finally decided to finish my degree. I have approximately 80 credits towards a BA in Psychology. I just completed a course from LSU and I am currently enrolled in two courses through BYU. I plan to enroll at Park University and pursue their online BA in Social Psych. I was wondering if anyone had an opinioins about the school. I plan to finish in year and then I would like to go and get a Masters's, preferably through DL. I am interested in school Psych or perhaps counseling. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
I found a reference to a Park College in a Bear's Guide but no Park University. The one I found is in Missouri and has programs in Management, Criminal Justice and CIS . . . no Social Psych. It doesn't seem that we're referring to the same school. You may need to provide more info to get a decent answer. Jack
They are accredited, founded in the late 1800's. Last time I ever checked it was a 4th tier school which is nothing to be ashamed of. I would probably choose Park over U of Phoenix due to probably being better perceived. Should be a good choice. For Masters there are a number of choices. Liberty Universty has a MA in Counseling that qualifies for most state's LPC exam. The program is not religious in nature and relatively affordable. DOes require a couple of on campus courses that are done during short summer sessions (such as Group Counseling). http://www.liberty.edu Good luck. North
Greetings, Park University has many campuses, especially military base. And they have a good raputation too, so I would recommend you to earn a degree from them. What is about Troy State University? Bachelor of Science in Pyschology http://spectrum.troyst.edu/~distance/dist_ed/#Undergraduate only $140/credit They accept most of the credits, especially CLEP and DANTES exams for General edu. Kyles'MON, What course you have taken at LSU - Independent Studies? I am curently taking Calculus II, Technical Writting, and General Physics I. Semper Fi,
Thanks for the replies. Tekman- I took a Sociology course from LSU and it was a breeze. I will look into Troy. I have an AA already so most of my gen ed's are done. I am starting to wonder if I should just keep gathering credits and then go for one of the big three. I am just unsure of theri reputations in the "real world".
Amberton's MA in Counseling When you get to that point, Amberton University has a Master of Arts in Counseling with a variety of tracks. They're a very inexpensive regionally accredited graduate program -- $600 per course, twelve courses required. (Their MBA in on my grad school shortlist.) -=Steve=-
I used to teach online courses at Park. This is a good school and they have a large audience for online courses. They used to use VCampus as their CMS which I didn't find as comprehensive as some of the other systems like BlackBoard, WebStudy, Educator, etc. From what I understand from an online newsletter they have recently gone to another CMS which I am not familiar with. Each course requires a proctored exam at the end so you will need a proctor that fits their criteria. They offer 8 week classes with 5 semesters/year at the undergraduate level.
