I found an intresting new online Master's program at the Montana State University called Master of Science in Science Education .
    http://www.montana.edu/distance/programs.html#master

The only thing is I am not sure about agency is it accredited through...I am not familiar with it.
    http://www.montana.edu/msse/faq.html

Montana State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. NASC is located at 11130 NE 33rd Place, Suite 120, Bellevue, Washington 98004. The University is also a member of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges. The Master of Science in Science Education (MSSE) degree was approved by the Montana Board of Regents in 1996 and all MSSE courses and programs of study are approved by the Montana State University College of Graduate Studies

Can anyone shed some light on this please.

Because if this program is RA then I now have a total of 4 choices for a Masters program.

    Any comments would be appreciated.;)

    Thanks

    Jay

    Jay,

    you can look at:

    http://www.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html

for accrediting bodies approved y the US Dept of ED.

    you can look at:

    www.chea.org

to search for accredited institutions or accreditors.

When in doubt if it isn't listed under the first link be cautious.

There are other accreditors that more knowledgeable persons on the board can point out.

It is most certainly accredited and it seems like it would be a good option for someone pursuing a graduate degree in science education.

    Montana State - Definately RA

While Montana ("Big Sky Country") is one of the larger states in area, its' population is not very large. It does have a public univeristy and collgege system with Montana State being part of that. At least it was not Salish Kootenai College or Chief Dull Knife Memorial College (in Lame Deer).

The colleges include (in no particular order):

Montana State University - Billings (Billings MT)
Montana State University - Bozeman (Bozeman MT)
Montana State University, College of Technology - Great Falls (Great Falls MT)
Montana State University - Northern (Havre MT)
Montana Tech of The University of Montana (Butte MT)
University of Montana - Missoula (Missoula MT)
University of Montana - Western (Dillon MT)
Helena College of Technology, The University of Montana (Helena MT)
Little Big Horn College (Crow Agency MT)
University of Great Falls (Great Falls MT)
Stone Child College (Box Elder MT)
    Salish Kootenai College (Pablo MT)
    Rocky Mountain College (Billings MT)
    Blackfeet Community College (Browning MT)
Chief Dull Knife Memorial College (Lame Deer MT)
    Dawson Community College (Glendive MT)
Flathead Valley Community College (Kalispell MT)
    Fort Belknap College (Harlem MT)
Fort Peck Community College (Poplar MT)
Miles Community College (Miles City MT)

This is an excellent example of why you need to search and search and search. I just did a quick look at two of the best DL search engines I know and this program was not listed.

As Jack noted, Montana State is part of the Montana University System, a public entity. The University of Montana in Missoula is the premier public institution, but Montana State has an excellent reputation - I lived in Montana for a few years and I'm very familiar with it.

Bozeman is MSU, located in the beautiful Gallatin Valley - Yellowstone Park is to the south. The Billings campus used to be Eastern Montana College and the Havre campus was Northern Montana College - they were incorporated into MSU a few years ago.

It looks like a very interesting program. Thanks for the link, I'm going to recommend to someone I know.

It's accedited by the Northwest Association (RA) as are the universities of Montana, Washington, Oregon, Nevada etc.

Re: Montana State - Definately RA

It's interesting to note that while this part of the western extension (Montana, Wyoming, Idaho) of the Big Empty (a line roughly North of Denver to Minneapolis) teaches a lot of science, they farm out MD training elsewhere.

Thank you to all who have posted & replied.

I am thankful for the knowledge of those on here...I am just not familiar with the who is and who is not accredited in out west...besides the colleges and universities that are extremely well known.

With the links you all have provided here regarding accrediations...I have discovered a couple more DL programs &/or course programs:

    http://www.aero.und.edu/ats/
    http://www.space.edu/degrees.asp

    Cheers!

Now it is back to the drawing board...figuring out what Master's program to choose.
