MY GOODNESS!! I sure wasn't expecting it. Some of the universities I have spoken to have even been somewhat rude. That sure wasn't the case with Fort Hays State University. Just over a week ago (the Saturday before last), I decided to send all of my transcripts (unofficial copies) to FHSU and who, as I was told, would end up being my degree analyst should I decide to enroll there. Still, I haven't received my unofficial review from Excelsior, but I understand they are really busy, so I'm not really bothered by that. I'll still wait and see what kind of results I'll get from them, but it really couldn't be much better!

The letter from FHSU stated, "It has taken me several days to catch-up with various department chairs in an effort to give you the most accurate report possible. But the results have been favorable." EVERYTHING transferred in to give me a total of 72 credits at FHSU. I'll now need to earn 40 upper-level credits (should I decide to enroll with them). The Organizational Leadership Degree looks to be interesting, and should I decide to take that route, I'll need just the 24 "core" credits for that degree. In other words, the "Corporate Emphasis" will already be fulfilled, as will all cognate requirements.

What do any of you know about FHSU? I learned of the school through previous posts, but have never really read much beyond it's very reasonable price and it's accreditation.

I looked very hard at their master's in professional studies, I think that's what it is called. I like the school from what I've looked at, I just decided to look a master's in nursing, otherwise Fort Hays would be on my short list with Amberton.

    FHSU

I have to hand it to FHSU for thinking outside the box. If you are a rural State University how are you going to attract new students to raise enrollment so you can offer more programs. Nothing against Hays, Kansas but it's not the most appealing location in the US for a resident student.

Online education is made for a small institution like FHSU and the cost of their programs is a real bargain. And they've made some smart connections with the Army and Navy that gives them large potential market. I'm very impressed with their offerings - of course I'm like to see more graduate degree programs. I just hope the State doesn't get greedy and force them to double or triple their tuition.

    Kudos to FHSU !

    Possibilities....

I am sure that w/o a doubt that an employee who comes from someplace like Fort Hayes will be unfailingly polite. However, their offering a general studies degree with a concentration does allow them to accept a larger variety of credits than a school offering a BS or even a BA. The general studies option is ideal for someone with a wide variety of classes from schools here and there. It should be ideal for just the kind of people who visit this board.

BTW, if you ever decide to visit Ft. Hayes for any reason. Do not go when they are having a home football game. Every hotel room in town will be booked. I passed through there once when the team was in town and had to keep passing. Apparently, people come from so far away they stay the night.
