UNISA RA Equivalent? Other Options?

Does anyone have any experience (here in the U.S.) of having their UNISA BA degree evaluated by a credential evaluation agency? What was the result?

Here's the situation: My wife has earned about 75 RA credits. She would like to finish her degree at either an RA school or a foreign school that would likely be evaluated as being RA equivalent. She is interested in a variety of possible majors that include Christian/Biblical Studies, Christian Ed, Business, Health Administration, etc. It really comes down to finding the least expensive RA (or equivalent) option. Any ideas?

While I can't speak from personal experience, I believe that your wife would have little difficulty in having her GAAP degree (from UNISA or any other mainstream foreign school) evaluated favorably as being RA equivalent. If, however, I'm unpacking your question correctly, then I'd say that you might be mistaken if you believe that she would have all her credits accepted by this foreign school (UNISA or whatever). It's possible that she might have to lose a substantial amount of credit if she registers with such a school. This might make one of the big three more appealing. Best of luck,

    Greetings.

    1) If one wanted to pursue a foreign degree with the hope of it equating favorable to an American Bachelor's degree, I believe that the foreign degree one would want to purse is a Honors Bachelor's degree, and not "just" a Bachelor's degree. I do NOT state this as an absolute fact that is applicable to all degrees, I merely offer the possibility for your consideration.

    2) While it is possible, as Mr. Tracey mentioned, that a foreign institution wouldn't accept (some) American college courses (credits), for advance standing placement into their degree program, it is also possible that they would. For example, while I had no intention of transferring any credits to TSA (UNISA), when circumstances made such a transfer desirable, I had no difficulties whatever. It's worth noting, however, that my requests were modest, and their justifications ample. Further, my educational situation, like the rest of my life, is nothing if not atypical.

In case you missed it <g>, my point was that, if your wife wishes to transfer any of her credits to a school, your wife should enquire with the school for an accurate answer.

I might add that retaking previously taken course at UNISA is hardly the worst fate that could befall a person. Its a swell way to refresh one's knowledge (and to boost one's GPA <g>).

    Cordially,

Thanks for the replies. She is not against retaking some classes if necessary. She's more concerned with total cost and the degree being either RA or equivalent.

What do you know of SATS (South African Theological Seminary)? Are they GAAP?

    Hello again!

(I always remind myself of Jack Benny when I write that. <g>)

    Regarding your recent post:
I can state with complete certainly that I know nothing whatever about SATS. Soft subjects and their purveyors are quite beyond my compass. Presumably, so long as He approves of their theological teachings, what do the opinions of accredtiors matter? <g>

I certainly hope you get some useful replies. Mr. Tracey?
