Can anyone give me any opinions on the Masters degree programs at Touro International U? Specifically, I'm curious about their quality of education and how their degrees are perceived in today's job market.

    Thanks.

I see from your profile that you are in the US military. That essentially means a free degree from TUI. That's a big plus any way you slice it.

I'm not sure if you are interested in TUI's MBA or one of its other masters offerings. As for me, I spent some time looking into the MBA program, so I will present my views on that.

There is some good news regarding employers' perceptions of the degree; not the least of which is that TUI is regionally accredited. It's difficult to find TUI students because of the newness of the school's DL offerings, but I have located one TUI student who happens to be a regional sales and marketing director of a major multi-national high-tech firm that thinks TUI is great. Keep in mind that's one person's opinion. Individual results may very.

But how to overcome the Ivy-league good old boy network? That may be simpler than it sounds: Rely on the ex-military good old boy network to find a job. There are certain industries (such as defense consulting) and certain companies (such as Sceintific Applications International Co., and Booz-Allan & Hamilton) that view prior military service favorably; possibly more favorably than a traditional Ivy-leage MBA.

If you happen to be in the Army, you might want to wait before you commit to anything. See how Army University Access Online pans out.

If you are interested in a Master's in a health related field then the choices get smaller and Touro has a MS in Health Sciences. Traci makes a good point about cost FREE is hard to beat [IMG]

    Good luck,

I have a one-month window of opportunity to view the 8 million resumes on Monster.com. This is a wonderful tool for learning more about degrees and how they are used. There are 6 resumes posted by people with a Touro Ph.D. A look at their resumes suggests that none needed a doctorate for their present job (a lieutenant in a big city sheriff's office, a manager for a Russian phone company, a government economic analyst, two systems engineers in Silicon Valley, and a long-time adjunct faculty at Touro). Hoped for salaries range from $80K to $150K, average $125.

Dismal footnote: there are over 100 resumes posted listing a Columbia State University (totally phony) doctorate.

    Don't dispare Dr Bear,

That's less than 186 resumes per minute...you can work 24-7 for the WHOLE month, right?

    Dan Snelson Mm.D.

Dr Bear, will we see some stats [in this forum or ??] on your review of the resumes? I think that will be an eye-opener.
