I recently had a discussion with a friend who is completing a masters, and was able to complete 18 hours of graduate work at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley (not to be confused with GTF) in a single summer.

I was curious and checked the summer web site www.gtuss.org and the main site www.gtu.edu, and didn't see any distance courses.

Nearly all of the courses are one week long, and a paper is due 3 weeks after the last day of class. There are some interesting offerings, both beginning and advanced. The main speaker this summer appears to be John Dominic Crossan who was one of the commentators on the ABC Special last week - "Jesus and Paul" was the title I think.

Does anyone have experience with these folks?

One of the very best, very liberal theological consortia in the country. As an ultraconservative, they are not my cup of tea, but you can be assured of real academic integrity and no little prestige, too. If they are ideologically suitable for you, you would be well served by GTU in every way.
