More on the Canadian School of Management, which was once accredited by DETC, lost its accreditation, then regained it some years later after having been bought by International Management Centres of England.

Their "calender" says that they don't award degrees, just diplomas and certificates. But, the woman there explained to me, when you earn credits at CSM, they are "mirrored" on your transcript at (spoken quickly) "ailyew."

As it happens, I knew what she was saying: ALU -- but I waited for elaboration. It did not come. Perhaps she was as embarrassed as I would have been to say, out loud, "Action Learning University" (which happens to be another IMC-owned and DETC-accredited institution based in Colorado).

And finally I asked about Northland Open University, the very strange (to me) fiddle (my interpretation) started by the founder of CSM from a mail service in the Yukon Territory (a place were schools were not much regulated), but operated, it seems, from the CSM premises in Toronto.

"I can't tell you anything about that," she said. It was ambiguous as to whether she meant "I'm not allowed to..." or "I know nothing about it." But they were mentioned on the elaborate document framed on the wall which granted the coat of arms to CSM, so I was, I think, in the right place.

John: Please see my post earlier about this subject. I'm really curious about the "fellowships" from CSM that may result in a degree from IMC, Action Learning, or Southern Cross.
