    Need advice from the experts

One of my relatives finished his associate diploma in engineering, then he went to UK (for personal reasons) while in this period he studied HND (Higher National Diploma) in engineering field also. Since the educational system in UK accepts HND as requirement to master degree, he finished a master degree in engineering. Until now, everything is ok
The problem, after he returns home. He found some jobs in the public sector (government) but he could not get all that jobs because our education system did not accredit ND, HNC, and HND and since HND is not accredited, the master degree also will not be. It is the bureaucracy!!!
My question is there any chance to get distance engineering degree (BA, BS, BSc, etc…) in short period (less than one year)

    Many thanks

He may just not have explained it very well. If the HND was from a recognized UK institution there should be no problem with the recognition and same for the masters. Also each degree should stand on its own.

The only area where this may not be as simple is if the HND was granted through the guilds system (see: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9891&highlight=guilds ) whihc could be more problematic.

The first step would be to get he degrees certified by the college equivalence examiners (I have forgoten what they are called).

As I mention earlier, the system of evaluation is old and not fair, for example:
Any one who wants to work in the public sector he must obtain accreditation letter (degree from foreign country) from ministry of education, the process will start as follow:

1-for Bsc, the person must show high school certificate.
2-For master and PhD the person must also show high school certificate and Bsc or Ba (but not HND or HNC)
3-The university should be listed in the International Universities handbook
4-For every individual person and course and the same process will exists, for example person x and person y graduate from one university with master degree but the background of person x (BSc) and y (HND) person y will not get letter for his master.

I hope you got the idea.

It seemed to me that Mike already addressed it? Is the UK school recognized by the UK governemnt? If so then there shouldn't be an issue with the degree.

I had an ONC and a HNC in mechanical engineering from the UK. And they were good enough to get me several job offers in the USA. Later in my career when I was thinking about teaching I earned a BS from Excelsior (USNY) and was given credit for some of the ONC/HNS courses.
As I recall someone with a masters is not eligable to earn a BS at Excelsior but exceptions may be possible in situations such as you descroibe.
