    Hey,

Today I have gotten all of my "unofficial" documents together and have sent them to Excelsior College for review. If all goes as I assume it will, I should have about 72 credits already (and will need 48 credits to graduate). I'm hoping I will learn enough from the unofficial review to know what tests I can safely take. For the time being, though, Excelsior has advised me (whenever I have talked to them) not to pursue anymore lower level credits at this time. So, I'm guessing the best thing for me to do at this point is focus on earning the upper-level coursework needed to complete the degree. I'm still very uneasy with the word "unofficial", though. This is out of fear of duplicating credits. I'm wanting to earn a few more credits so that I don't have to pay the enrollment fee and then the student service fee after a year. However, Excelsior has told me that it shouldn't be very difficult at all to earn 48 credits within a year.

:) Since Kennedy-Western has just received RA Canidacy Status, I wonder if Excelsior would consider all of those credits I worked so hard for during my past educational experience with KW? (JUST KIDDING!)

About the Information Literacy requirement, too. I completed a Computer Science class (called Computers in Your Future) and Introduction to Computer Applications (where I basically did work with PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Will those fulfill the Information Literacy requirement, or will Excelsior prefer for me to take their course?

I think you may be disappointed. search on this forum for other people experience with the evaluation.

your best source is Excelsior college. Call them to find out. I think only their course would satisfy the requirement.

I'm afraid you may be disappointed with what you get for your $60!

Excelsior is not that specific in their "unofficial" evaluation and it can be difficult to get definitive answers until you enroll.

I came real close to enrolling with them but found much better service at COSC.

COSC spent alot of time with me, exploring what my goals were and providing me with a detailed list of options. They also post what exams they accept, how many hours and what level they consider them to be on their website at

    Best of luck!

Please keep us posted on your progress and experiences!

After asking my advisor, I was given a couple other classes they said ould meet this requirement. However, they were all more expensive and seemed like more of a hassle.

Depending on what courses/exams you need to complete your degree, you may wind up with more than the 48 credits you need. In my case, I started with 73 credits with Excelsior. After taking 16 exams to complete the Liberal Arts degree with a depth in History and another in Computers, I will have 124 credits total.

As for completing in a year, I should be finished by June. That will make 51 credits in five months, all by exam. My goal was to finish everything in less than a year, so I didn't have to pay another advising fee. Don't forget to allow a few months for waiting on Excelsior to do the official eval and later to process you for graduation.

    Good luck.
