Supposing someone does a BSc in Economics from the UoL External Program from the great school LSE, how would one go about getting good recommendation letters if he/she later on decides to go to Grad school here in US where recommendation letters are very important. Has anyone faced this situation?
getting letters are difficult in DL world since the teacher does not know the students and their work well to be able issue them when needed. Also they tend to forget the DL students earlier than in traditional setting. I know someone who did a DL education from UK institution and could not get a letter. Dont know maybe its different with UoL.
I would assume that it depends on the nature of the U. London programme. Some have much interaction with faculty; some not. I think the BSC in Economics can be pursued by independent study (in which case you're not going to be able to get letters) or through some third party institution that provides tutoring (in which case you could probably get letters from the instructors in the third party institution).
