    Greetings Mighty Forum~

Does anyone have an M.A. in Educational Counseling to recommend? My level of interest would depend on what you could do with such a degree. Would you try to enter a counseling position at a university or junior college? Open a private practice of some kind? What else is there for such a degree-holder?

Chris, I don't know if there is anything on this site that will be helpful but I pass it along nevertheless.

    Hi Chris,

I'm up the road from you in Fresno. I am currently working on an M.Ed. in School Counseling at the University of West Alabama . One thing I did check out was whether this would be acceptable for counseling jobs at the community college level and it seemed to be (at the four schools that I contacted).

You could not use it to open a psychological counseling practice (if that's what you had in mind) in California. I do academic counseling as a side business and I think having this degree only strengthens my ability to do that (see here ).

    Tom,

I'm impressed by the website. I have thought of the idea of doing some kind of "degree based consultation" as a side job, but can't get many to bite, currently.

I'm also not an author of multiple books, co-authoring with John Bear, etc. etc.

How is your program going? Do you recommend it?

    Tom,

One other thing while I'm bugging you. I assume these schools were CA colleges. How come CA isn't listed on their website for equivalency?
