    INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR OPEN AND DISTANCE EDUCATION (ICDE)

    ICDE Standards Agency (ISA)

    Does your institution need:

    · International accreditation by ICDE?

    · A quality audit to international standards?

    · An ICDE Quality Certificate?

    · To develop distance education policies and strategies?

    What is ICDE?

    ICDE is approved and recognised by the United Nations as the Global Membership Organisation in open, distance and e-learning. Established in 1938 as an independent, not for profit organisation (a non-governmental organisation or NGO) it offers its members and others access to its extensive worldwide experience of open, distance and e-learning at strategic and operational levels.

    What is ISA?

    ICDE has set up the ISA to promote public confidence that the quality of provision and standards of awards in open, distance and e-learning are being safeguarded and enhanced. The ISA team has an impressive international track record in:

    · policy;

    · strategic, and

    · operational levels of open, distance and e-learning.

    The Accreditation Commission of ISA is composed of some of the best known professionals in the world in distance education and e-learning:

    Professor Dr. David Sewart, Chair

    Professor Dr. Greville Rumble

    Professor Marta Mena

    Dr. Arief Sadiman

    Mr. David Hardy

    What can ISA do for my institution?

    In particular the team provides the following services:

    · Institutional quality audit. If successful this may lead to accreditation by ICDE and the award of an ICDE Quality Certificate.

    · Institutional planning from strategy development through implementation.

    · Cost analysis and costing methodologies including cost forecasting tools.

    · Managing the design, development, production and delivery of learning materials to international standards.

    · Establishment, development and management of new approaches to teaching and learning including an active pedagogy.

    Guidance on setting up student support services.

    ISA can provide the services as a three-step process:

    · investigation and analysis;

    · advice, recommendations and provision of costed alternatives;

    · implementation of new processes, procedures and systems including evaluation and assessment.

    The services are directed towards universities, colleges, schools and private institutions.
