Does any one know much about this institution? I was the "The Economist of last week issue " and there is this ad from the The American Open Uni. www.theou.com I thought to let you know. I think its sound fishy. Then again I am not expert on U.S education system. Migara
They are interesting. They flat out say on there web site that they are an un-traditional non-accredited school. They also claim that the Government and Millitary has paid for their "Degree's" I don't buy that, but i don't know. They also say something to the effect that just because a school is accredited it doesn't gaurentee that the education you recieve is worth while. I had one other bone to pick but it escape me at the moment.
Their accreditation page says it all. http://www.theou.com/default.asp?content=accreditation Not recognized, not state licensed, not state approved......
The phone number they give out is in Seattle. The fax the list is in British Columbia. I tried the phone number. A recorded voice said that I was not authorized to call this number, and gave a toll-free number. The toll free number was for the AT&T business office. All rather curious for a university that claims it won a prize as the best distance learning school in the world.
computer-generated picture? The building photo on the home page looks a lot like a computer-generated picture to me. I wonder how solidly attached the heads of their professors are? G
