I'm currently an active military, and since I don't have much choice on school, I plan to attend UMUC to get BA on accounting.. After graduating from UMUC, I hope to get into good graduate school such as Ohio State Univ, USC, and UIUC, to pursue MD on accounting. My main concern is that since UMUC is online school and not well-known, I think acceptance rate will be low.. Does anyone it will be possible to get into good grad school after getting BA with online school? I'd appreciate any suggetion..
I've heard of University of Maryland Even though I'm on the West Coast (as is USC), I have a positve impression of University of Maryland. Check out whether or not your transcript indicates online or if it's a regular University transcript.
UMUC is not an online school. They offer online classes. They also offer a lot of courses and degree programs on military bases throughout the world. There is nothing on your transcript that will reflect that you took classes online. Difficulty in getting into graduate school should not be a problem with a UMUC degree.
Re: I've heard of University of Maryland Unfortunately, the real University of Maryland is not University of Maryland University College (similar name, two very different schools.) Having said that, you should have no problem getting into a graduate school as long as you have a degree, transcript and you've taken the necessary entrance exams (GRE, etc.) (If you're still confused about the UMD thing, check http://usmexplain.tripod.com/ for an explanation.
I attend UMUC and it is a great school. It is not just an online school. They are different than the University of Maryland and nothing on your transcript will say online. I have several friends who have gone on to graduate school. You have nothing to worry about. All schools, even Ivy leaque, have online classes. Online is a format for learning, an option. You can always attend class.
