SCUPS - DETC
It has come to my attention the Southern California
University for Professional Studies (SCUPS) is up for
accreditation with the DETC.
An article in the Chronicle of Higher Education
(April 25, 1997) stated SCUPS had been blacklisted by
the Government of Thailand as a diploma mill or for
selling degrees. (The article wasn't real clear.)
If any degree.info readers have any comments on SCUPS you should notify the DETC at mike@detc.org as soon as possible. -
SCUPS is a real school. The Thais have probably screwed it up. Dr Hecht has too much at stake to sell degrees. -
1997!!!! Anything could have happened!
The article may be right, but from what I hear in recent days, the school is very strict in its overseas operations . | | | | | Northeastern University | Northeastern University
Northeastern offers online Master’s Degrees in Accounting, Taxation, and Finance; MBA’s in Finance, General Business, Healthcare Mgmt, High Technology, Innovation Entrepreneurship, International Mgmt, Marketing, and Operations & Supply Chain Mgmt.
The school is a prestigious, widely-recognized university in the U.S. It is regionally accredited, the most widely recognized form of accreditation. It also has programmatic accreditation for its business programs from AACSB. | | | | | | -
I doubt that this article will have any real effect on SCUPS. The DETC would reject their application in an instant if such practises were administered overseas. Roy Savia -
I don’t think a 1997 article (which may or may not have been accurate) is particularly relevant.
Except in extreme circumstances, DETC and other accrediting bodies evaluate schools on what they’re doing today, not years ago. Posting Permissions - You may not post new threads
