The recent Newsletter of the South African Theological Seminary says it now has 1700 students. This school which offers undergrad and grad (no docs) is, as I understand , approved by the SA Gov office which evaluates private DL schools, and ,as I understand, its grads are qualified to apply at SA Gov universities.

While I've never taken a course from SATS, they did facilitate my entering UZ. They seem very responsive and helpful. Programs may be finished wholly by DL by either coursework or research or a combo.

Indeed, if anything, their responsiveness to student issues, already noteworthy, has improved since SATS and UZ went their separate ways.

    Options

Our Masters programme offers you a very wide range of focus areas, each of which is supervised by highly competent academic specialists, who have been very carefully selected to provide you with the levels of service excellence, for which we have become known. You can choose either a thesis or a structured programme in the following fields:

    Practical Theology
    Pastoral Counselling
    Systematic Theology
    Old Testament
    New Testament
    Biblical Studies
    Bible Translation
    Leadership
    Church Management
    Children’s Ministry
    Missiology

Unfortunately, the MTh does not provide for coursework. The structured masters, according to my understanding from Reuben, is a series of papers on various topics related to one of the above areas of study.

I considered the program, but would like a program that offered coursework and feedback from the instructors.

For the price you can't beat it. And responsive, out of this universe.

I often hear many good comments around here about Reuben...would that be the Vice-prinicipal, or is there another SATS point of contact by that same name?

I think the same. Has a doc from UZ and is very helpful.

    re:SATS

    Hi Bill (& others)

I'm considering SATS as an option for M.Th once I finish my M.Div (next year, God willing). Has anybody here actually done a degree at SATS? Has anybody here gone on to a doctorate (either in South Africa or particularly outside South Africa) with a SATS M.Th? I just want to make sure I've got my bases covered, really; their programme looks fairly legit and I have thus far heard only positive things about them.

    Matt
