Hi Everyone I am new to this site and I think it's an excellent site. I will be taking the DSST/DANTES Exams - I just purchased "DSST - The Official Test Preparation guide. It only consist of personal finance, financial accounting, human resource management, supervision, organizational behavior, business math, and ethics in America). what are the best books to use when preparing for the following exams? Drug & Alcohol Abuse Lifespan Developmental Psychology Money & Banking Here's to your helath Introduction to World Religions Introduction to Modern Middle East Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.
I don't know if this site will be of any value to you, but I offer it anyway. You will find some sample test questions and answers. Good luck!
Hi Talent, It is really hard to say what books would be helpful for you. Or more accurately, it is hard to suggest the most economical book for you. Any textbook in the subject will be sufficient, and you can probably pick up a cheap (older edition) text for cheap on half.com, amazon used, or a similiar site. Then again, a Cliffnotes or For Dummies type book may be sufficient depending on your previous subject knowledge and innate intelligence (LOL- or if you are a logical person who is a good test taker.) Unfortunately, I haven't taken any of the tests you listed. Many people on this site have mentioned that "Heres to Your Health" is insanely easy. Maybe a quick google search on the outlined topics would be enough for this test? Good luck, Tony
I thought the Official guide to DSST was pretty good for the tests it covers. I took 3 exams from that book and did well without using any other references. For Lifespan Developmental Psych, I took it the same day I took the Cleps Intro to Psych and Human Growth and Development. I used Xenia's Intro to psych and her Guide to Human Growth and Development for all three tests I passed all 3 with an A on the Lifespan develop. Psych. I thought all three exams were overlapping with alot of the same material. Xenia's guides were the only reference I used for these exams. BTW, I had zero background in Social Sciences prior to studying these guides. Alot is just knowing what all of the Lingo means. You would probably be wasting time studying for the Here's to your health exam. Do a search, someone has a link on this with excellent notes on Money and Banking and Alcohol and Drug abuse. I have not taken the latter two,but I have heard both are fairly difficult. As far as world religions and Modern Middle East, I have no idea. Good luck. FED
